Description
After four years, accordionist Martynas Levickis returns to Paliesius Manor! The concert program will feature works by Mozart, Mahler, Piazzolla, and Glass – music from different eras, which, interpreted by Levickis, will gain a new sound.
Martynas Levickis is a world-renowned performer, constantly expanding the boundaries of the accordion’s possibilities. He is famous for his ability to combine classical, tango, and electronic music, often performing in unconventional spaces. The newspaper ‘The Independent’ described the musician as ‘a startlingly talented man who has single-handedly reinvented the accordion’.
Having graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in London and ‘Musikene’ in San Sebastian, the performer became the first accordionist to sign a contract with ‘Decca Classics’ and reach the top spot on the UK classical music album sales chart. Having received over 30 international awards, the musician now performs at major European festivals, collaborates with top-tier musicians, and is welcomed on the most prestigious stages worldwide.
In the summer of 2025, Levickis was invited to the renowned ‘Rheingau Musik Festival’ as a ‘focus artist’ – an exceptional position. During the festival, Levickis revealed an innovative approach to accordion music and presented seven diverse programs, two of which, ‘Da Vinci’s Dream’ and ‘Night at the Museum’, were conceived by himself – tickets for these performances sold out instantly. Performing the program ‘Da Vinci’s Dream’, Levickis played an organetto, an instrument made according to Da Vinci’s drawings. In 2026, he was invited to the festival again. The musician also recently performed with electronic music star Philippe Cohen Solal from ‘Gotan Project’, violin virtuoso Daniel Hope, appeared with baritone Benjamin Appl at the famous ‘Wigmore’ Hall, and recorded a song and music video with British singer Katie Melua in Lithuania.
However, concert activity is only part of Martynas Levickis’ broad creative field. He is the founder of the ensemble ‘Mikroorkéstra’, the initiator of international musical initiatives and residencies, teaches at the Royal Academy of Music, and consistently fosters the culture of the Baltic countries. The success of the album ‘Autograph’ also testifies to international recognition – Martynas was recognized as the best instrumentalist of 2023 at the prestigious ‘OPUS Klassik’ awards for the album recorded at Paliesius Manor and released by ‘ACCENTUS Music’.
