Swedish double bassist Lars Danielsson is a true legend of Nordic jazz, consistently drawing the highest praise from critics. His touch on the double bass is more melodic and lyrical than most, marked by technical mastery, a vivid musical imagination, and an almost telepathic understanding of his fellow musicians. At Paliesius Manor, he will perform alongside jazz pianist Grégory Privat from Martinique, widely considered one of the brightest talents on the new jazz scene.
During the concert, the duo performed “Liberetto”—L. Danielsson’s most celebrated album and the quintessence of his diverse forms of expression. The album struck a delicate balance between jazz, classical music, pop, and European folk music, thereby opening a new dimension in the use of compositional processes and dramaturgy within jazz. And pianist Grégory Privat infuses this music with yet another unique, distinctive sound.
