Description
We invite you to welcome winter with music! On December 6, Paliesius Manor hosts one of the most brilliant contemporary pianists, Yulianna Avdeeva, who triumphed at the F. Chopin Competition. A pianist of fiery temperament and virtuosity, she plays with power, conviction, and sensitivity, captivating audiences across the globe.
The pianist earned global recognition at the 2010 F. Chopin Competition, where she won first prize for a precise performance that “matches F. Chopin’s own playing” (The Telegraph).
In 2025, Yulianna Avdeeva has been invited to serve as a jury member for the XIX International F. Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, which marks the competition’s 100th anniversary.
Highlights of the 2024–2025 season include performances with the Minnesota Orchestra and Robert Treviño, Orchestra della Svizzera italiana and Markus Poschner, as well as the Wrocław Baroque Orchestra, Aarhus Symphony Orchestra, Basel Chamber Orchestra, Musikkollegium Winterthur, Sinfónica de Galicia, and Orchestre des Pays de la Loire. She will also embark on a tour with the NHK Orchestra in Japan. The pianist performs in such renowned halls as Konzerthaus Dortmund, Carnegie Hall, Brucknerhaus Linz, Pierre Boulez Saal Berlin, and Gewandhaus Leipzig.
Yulianna Avdeeva has performed with many of the most prominent orchestras in Europe and the US, including the Berlin and Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestras, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, Kremerata Baltica, Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Los Angeles Philharmonic, and Montreal Symphony Orchestra. She has worked with such conductors as Manfred Honeck, Sir Mark Elder, Gustavo Dudamel, Marin Alsop, Tugan Sokhiev, Santu Mattias-Rouvali, Robert Treviño, Jura Valcuha, and Marek Janowski.
“Pianist Y. Avdeeva’s sensational performance was unparalleled. […] it required a fearless, independent interpreter with strong nerves and even stronger fingers, and this pianist was exactly that,” noted the German daily Hamburger Abendblatt.
Devoted to chamber music, Y. Avdeeva regularly performs across Europe with violinists Julia Fischer and Gidon Kremer, appearing at Wigmore Hall, Tonhalle Zurich, Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, and other venues. Furthermore, she is a regular guest at the Warsaw F. Chopin Festival and the International Piano Festival in La Roque d’Anthéron. In recent seasons, Y. Avdeeva has performed at the Salzburg Festival, Klavier-Festival Ruhr, Rheingau Music Festival, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Pierre Boulez Saal Berlin, Wiener Konzerthaus, Palau de la Música Catalana, Musikfest Bremen, Jerusalem International Chamber Music Festival, and the International Shostakovich Festival Gohrisch.
The pianist’s artistic legacy is documented by recordings of F. Chopin concertos with the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century and Frans Brüggen (2013), three solo albums featuring works by Bach, Mozart, Schubert, Chopin, Liszt, and other composers (2014, 2016, 2017), and a collaboration with Gidon Kremer on the chamber music of M. Weinberg (2017 and 2019). This impressive collection is crowned by a solo recording for Deutsche Grammophon (2019), which is part of an important series dedicated to honoring the gold medalists of the F. Chopin Competition.
Piano enthusiasts worldwide also enjoy her educational online streaming project, #AvdeevaBachProject, which she launched during the quarantine and has garnered over half a million views.

We invite you to prepare for Christmas in your own creative way!
Christmas Eve is unimaginable without kūčiukai on the table, and baking them is a centuries-old Lithuanian tradition. Why not bake your own at Paliesius Manor on December 6?
Both the words “Kūčios” and “kūčiukai” are connected to the spirits of the departed, the “kočios.” Our ancestors believed that spirits visited the home just before Christmas—kūčiukai were offered as a feast for them, shaped like tiny loaves of bread. Even today, they remain one of the essential centerpieces of the Christmas Eve table.
At Paliesius Manor, we will bake two kinds of kūčiukai: the traditional recipe, just as it was in times of old, and an enriched, wonderfully flavored variety. You will be able to place your freshly baked creations on your own holiday table, bringing it even more coziness and deep meaning.
