More about the concert

On November 7, Paliesius Manor will host an exceptional concert bringing together laureates of the international “Music of the Century” competition in Costa Rica.

The concept of the concert is to create an artistic dialogue between different cultures, geographical spaces, and musical traditions. Paliesius Manor will resonate with classical and contemporary European music, alongside the work of a Costa Rican composer.

A special highlight of the evening will be the piece “Tylos haiku” by Costa Rican composer Marvin Camacho, performed by Ala Bendoraitienė (piano), Augustas Vasiliauskas (saxophone), and Deividas Staponkus (baritone).

The three young pianists are laureates of international competitions, actively performing both in Lithuania and abroad. Sofia Jankauskaitė, a piano student at the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Art, has already won the Grand Prix at the international “Music of the Century” competition in Costa Rica. Rugilė Mielytė, who works at the Balys Dvarionas Ten-Year Music School, also won the Grand Prix in the same competition in 2023, while Augustė Pauliūtė, a student at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, is a laureate of the “Music Without Borders” and “Music of the Century” competitions, and has performed across various European countries.

Pianist, accompanist, and pedagogue Ala Bendoraitienė has held over 3,000 concerts in Europe, Asia, and Latin America throughout her creative career. She is the premier performer of numerous contemporary works, a jury member for international competitions, and the initiator of the “Music of the Century” festival and competition. Young-generation saxophonist Augustas Vasiliauskas studies at the Zurich University of the Arts, is a laureate of multiple international competitions, and is a three-time recipient of the scholarship from the Polish Minister of Culture and National Heritage. The concert will also feature Deividas Staponkus—a Lithuanian opera soloist, baritone, Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre professor, and cultural manager. He has performed on opera stages in Lithuania and abroad, leads vocal masterclasses, participates in international competition juries, and, as of 2025, leads the State Choir “Vilnius”.

The program will feature the music of F. Chopin, F. Liszt, B. Dvarionas, St. Vainiūnas, P. Vasks, E. Rautavaara, W. A. Mozart, and V. Bartulis.

“Haiku of Silence. Music Between Distant Shores” is an artistic dialogue where different cultural experiences, musical traditions, and the individual worlds of the creator and performer converge. Here, music becomes a universal space that allows us to transcend geographical and cultural boundaries in search of a shared resonance.
