This October, four distinct musical narratives await at Paliesius Manor: from Scandinavian jazz and spontaneous improvisations to the evocative world of Liszt, alongside intimate portraits of women from the Romantic and early Modernist eras. The month opens with the Scandinavian jazz trio Rymden, bringing the soundscapes of their new album, “Valleys & Mountains,” to Paliesius. Later, Petras Vyšniauskas and Aleksandra Žvirblytė will beautifully intertwine classical music and improvisation, while mid-October brings the international EuroLiszt Festival to the manor. The month will draw to a dreamy close with “Richardo moterys,” an evening echoing with the music of Richard Wagner and Richard Strauss.

Scandinavian jazz will wash over Paliesius Manor as the renowned trio Rymden takes the stage, bringing together Norwegian pianist Bugge Wesseltoft and Swedish musicians Dan Berglund on double bass and Magnus Öström on drums. The performers arrive with their latest album, “Valleys & Mountains,” descending from their previous cosmic journeys back to Earth—though the world they create this time is anything but earthly. Pastoral landscapes, inner cosmos, dreams, and visions seamlessly intertwine with diverse musical techniques and styles, while the trio’s distinctive harmonies invite listeners to drift into entirely new sonic spaces.
October 10, 4:00 PM | “Europos fantazija”: Petras Vyšniauskas (saxophone), Aleksandra Žvirblytė (piano)
Two prominent figures of Lithuanian music will meet on stage—saxophone luminary Petras Vyšniauskas and pianist Aleksandra Žvirblytė. In the concert “Europos fantazija,” classical music will beautifully merge with the art of improvisation. Guided by spontaneous musical impulses born here and now, the performers will weave unexpected combinations and entirely new sounds. The program features original compositions and improvisations inspired by the music of all 27 European Union countries, promising listeners a sweeping musical journey across Europe.
October 17–18 | EuroLiszt Festival | “Čigonas ar Pranciškonas?”
Paliesius Manor will host the EuroLiszt Festival, an event dedicated to Franz Liszt, one of the most prominent figures in European music history. Guided by the festival’s artistic director, world-renowned pianist Mūza Rubackytė, the stage will also welcome pianists Thomas Kelly from the United Kingdom, Attila Szaniszló from Hungary, and Simonas Miknius from Lithuania. The festival program will be further enriched by the Vilnius University United Choir and master’s students from the LMTA Department of Solo Singing. The first day will present two concerts highlighting Thomas and Attila, while the second day will culminate in a magnificent finale with Mūza and the VU United Choir.
October 24, 4:00 PM | “Richardo moterys”
The October concert series will draw to a close with “Richardo moterys,” a program thoughtfully prepared by three artists—soprano Kristina Zmailaitė, violinist Barbora Domarkaitė, and pianist Milda Umbrusevičiūtė. The evening brings together the works of two great innovators of German music: Richard Wagner and Richard Strauss. Listeners will be treated to operatic excerpts, chamber music masterpieces, and works for violin and piano distinguished by their virtuosity, maturity, and profound sensitivity—unveiling the portrait of a woman through the expressive language of Romanticism and early Modernism.
