Pianist Martín García García was born in Gijón, Spain. He began his musical studies at the age of five with teachers Natalia Mazouni and Ilya Goldfarb. Martín graduated from the Reina Sofía School of Music, where he studied in the class of Galina Eguiazarova—and received the Most Outstanding Student award from Her Majesty Queen Sofía. The pianist also completed his master’s studies in piano at the Mannes School of Music in New York.
Martín has won first prizes in numerous national and international competitions. Of special note is his First Prize at the 2021 Cleveland International Piano Competition, as well as his Third Prize and special award for the best concerto at the XVIII International Chopin Piano Competition, one of the world’s most prestigious piano competitions. The artist also won First Prize at the 2018 International Keyboard Institute & Festival in New York—following this victory, the pianist received a scholarship and was able to settle in the city. Over the past two years in New York, under the tutelage of the renowned pianist Jerome Rose, Martín completed his musical studies.
Martín has performed as a soloist in various concert halls across Europe and the US. His performances have been highly praised by various musicians and pianists, such as Vladimir Krainev, Dmitri Alexeev, Arcadi Volodos, Dmitri Bashkirov, Joaquín Achúcarro, Tatiana Copeland (Sergei Rachmaninoff’s second cousin), and others. The artist was also invited to participate in the Ruhr Piano Festival, where he was sponsored by maestro Radu Lupu.
Following a highly successful October 2021 at the Chopin Competition in Warsaw, Martín scheduled several musical tours across Japan, Europe, and the US.
