“The music created by the duo cannot be confined to the boundaries of a single style—within the virtuosos’ conversation, one can hear fragments of romantic, impressionist, and contemporary music, alongside jazz and free improvisation, musical commentary, and entire solo revelations, firmly woven into a seamless flow of sonic events. It is like a labyrinth of 19th-century echoes and 20th- and 21st-century music (Mockūnas and Geniušas’s improvisations): both performers search for their path within it, discovering new and unexpected turns, and behind each one, finding each other. In other words, this is music not of searching, but of discovery,” musicologist V. Janatjeva observes, describing the musicianship of L. Mockūnas and P. Geniušas.
