On May 13 at Paliesius Manor, artist Jausmė and double bassist Gabrielius Rimeika presented Jausmė’s album “Namolio”, which was born after more than five years of working and living in Bristol, UK, when the artist returned to her native Lithuania in the summer of 2020 to create. Here, inspired by her roots, her native forests, the language, the stories of the people, and artists such as Thom Yorke, Moses Sumney, The Cinematic Orchestra, Lianne La Havas, and others, she unveiled this full-length solo album in March 2022—chronicling her nearly decade-long journey home: to her homeland, and to herself.
Jausmė is one of the few artists with a truly distinctive signature to begin popularizing the folk instrument, the concert kanklės, beyond Lithuania’s borders. In her compositions and songs, using her voice, twenty-nine strings, and the Lithuanian and English languages, she weaves a cozy blanket of minimalism and soul, adorned with elements of her other favorite styles (dub, jazz, post-rock, electronica).
The concert features original compositions from Jausmė’s album “Namolio”.
