In August at Paliesius Manor – timeless and newly reborn classics

During the final month of summer, Paliesius Manor will echo with a rich tapestry of music and instrumentation. Pianists, singers, and guitarists will take the stage, inviting the audience to savor everything from classical composers and reborn pop classics to spontaneous improvisations and original compositions. The month opens with two masterful pianists, Petras Geniušas and Fali Pavri. The second weekend promises a captivating performance by the talented singer Rūta Ščiogolevaitė, alongside a four-hand recital by pianists Guoda Gedvilaitė and Nami Ejiri. Later, Martinique pianist Grégory Privat returns to the manor with his debut solo album, *Yonn*, followed by the acclaimed and long-standing Baltic Guitar Quartet. Autumn will be welcomed to the rhythm of the tango, as Trio Agora brings the month to a close with the presentation of their latest album, *Hotel Tango*.

August 2, 16:00 | Petras Geniušas and Fali Pavri

Two masterful musicians will grace the stage of the Pasaga Concert Hall: Petras Geniušas, one of Lithuania’s most renowned pianists, and Fali Pavri, an internationally acclaimed UK pianist of Indian descent. Among Lithuanian performers, Petras Geniušas stands out for the sheer breadth of his interests and his constant, often daring pursuit of new forms of expression and transcendent musical and spiritual experiences. Pianist Fali Pavri enjoys an active international career, performing as both a soloist and chamber musician. A dedicated educator, he has premiered numerous works by exceptional composers to the world.

In this concert, like magicians, they will make the piano speak, subtly unveiling the secrets of each piece on the program: from timeless classics and more modern composers to even improvisational fantasies.

August 9, 16:00 | Rūta Ščiogolevaitė in Paliesius

The talented Rūta Ščiogolevaitė and pianist Paulius Zdanavičius will perform at Paliesius Manor. Seeing the singer Rūta Ščiogolevaitė on stage leaves not the slightest doubt that she was simply born for it. Radiating charisma, enchanting with a powerful, masterfully controlled voice, and delighting with her theatricality and tasteful repertoire, she effortlessly wins the hearts of listeners in Lithuania and abroad. This is proven not only by sold-out halls and thunderous applause, but by her fellow companions on stage. “Rūta Ščiogolevaitė is one of the few vocalists of the younger generation in Lithuania capable of professionally singing not just pop, but across the cultures of various styles and genres,” notes singer Rosita Čivilytė.

A musical journey through timeless jazz standards and reborn pop classics awaits the audience. Familiar pieces will be elegantly interpreted—ranging from subtle jazz to the beloved hits of pop legends Whitney Houston and Tina Turner.

August 10, 14:00 | Four-Hand Recital: Guoda Gedvilaitė (Lithuania) and Nami Ejiri (Japan)

A spirited summer afternoon awaits at Paliesius Manor with renowned pianists Guoda Gedvilaitė and Nami Ejiri and their four hands. These two pianists of differing cultures and temperaments, who have known one another for thirty years, currently maintain an active pedagogical practice in Frankfurt am Main, lead masterclasses across Europe, and perform worldwide as soloists and chamber ensemble partners. As Nami and Guoda play together, their technical passages fuse perfectly, and their expressive voices harmonize so flawlessly that if you closed your eyes, you might believe only a single person sits at the keys.

In many of the world’s languages, the word for “play” in music also means to play a game, so these colleagues have decided not merely to play, but to play playfully—with the keys, musical phrases, and moods. Their program features W. A. Mozart’s virtuosic Sonata in C Major, J. Brahms’s fiery Hungarian Dances, and pieces that unfold as games and fairy tales: a seesaw, a wooden rocking horse, blind man’s bluff, a drummer and a trumpeter, playing mother and father, Snow White, Beauty, the Beast, and other characters.

August 16, 18:00 | Grégory Privat: “YONN”

Martinique pianist Grégory Privat returns to Paliesius Manor to present his latest release and very first solo album, *Yonn*. The artist is celebrated as one of the brightest talents on the modern jazz scene. He has already released six critically acclaimed albums—his third, *Luminescence*, recorded as a duo with Sonny Troupé, was recognized at the 2015 Victoires du Jazz awards in the “Revelation of the Year, Frank-Ténot Prize” category.

The album *Yonn* features 11 original compositions that weave together the piano and the artist’s own voice, merging Caribbean culture, classical music, and jazz. Its central theme is a meditation and a return to oneself, overflowing with trust, light, comfort, and hope. This new opus was released on January 28, 2022, under the pianist’s own record label, Buddham Jazz.

August 23, 16:00 | Baltic Guitar Quartet

Paliesius Manor invites you to indulge in the sounds of guitar music with a performance by the talented Baltic Guitar Quartet. The collective was born more than twenty years ago when four students from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre joined forces to form the Baltic Guitar Quartet. Five years later, they welcomed a guitarist from Belgium into their ranks. Over this long musical journey, the quartet has curated an original repertoire, which will be beautifully reflected in this concert’s program.

The ensemble is highly regarded by local classical music enthusiasts and is presented abroad as the leading guitar ensemble in the Baltic states. Their history of performances spans more than 25 countries and prestigious concert halls around the world. The quartet’s members—Zigmas Čepulėnas, Sergejus Krinicinas, Saulius S. Lipčius, and Chris Ruebens—are laureates of various competitions and highly active performers. Their playing is sensitive, colorful, and subtle, yet entirely unpretentious.

August 30, 16:00 | Trio Agora: Hotel Tango (Album Presentation Concert)

Trio Agora will take the stage at the manor’s concert hall. The trio is comprised of three charismatic musicians and laureates of various prestigious international competitions: clarinetist and singer Žilvinas Brazauskas, cellist Natania Hofman, and pianist Robertas Lozinskis. This is a dynamic ensemble, rapidly establishing itself as a leader in its genre.

The trio will present their newest album, *Hotel Tango*, released in June 2023 under the German record label Accentus Music. This album is a kind of international tango manifestation, transporting listeners from Parisian salons to the narrow streets of Buenos Aires, through the United States, Latin America, West Africa, and Eastern Europe. Many of the featured pieces unfold like stories, paying homage to original compositions in the form of exquisite arrangements and transcriptions.
