Description
Paukštelis and Tarasov return to Paliesius Manor with a new collaborative project! While the duo previously deconstructed the Baroque, the music of Chopin awaits in their new program. The manor’s antique instruments—the organ and harpsichord—will also resonate.
Vladimir Tarasov is a world-renowned drummer, inventive percussionist, composer, and visual artist. He commands a multitude of musical styles, though his primary interests lie in free jazz and improvisational music. Under the touch of this master percussionist, instruments resound like an orchestra; he even coaxes sound from unexpected objects. Together with the GTČ trio, V. Tarasov laid the foundations of the Lithuanian jazz school, played with global luminaries of improvisational music, and was one of the first in Europe to perform solo percussion programs. A conceptual artist, he is actively involved in a wide-ranging creative life: composing for theater and cinema, creating visual art and cross-genre projects, staging performances and installations, and collaborating with creators across various disciplines—writers, painters, and masters of dance and plastic arts.
Pianist Viktoras Paukštelis has performed in such prestigious halls as New York’s Carnegie Hall, Vienna’s Musikverein, and the Berlin Philharmonie, participating in numerous international festivals. He has released four albums featuring the works of J. S. Bach, C. Franck, R. Schumann, and other composers. Viktoras Paukštelis has frequently earned high praise from fellow musicians and music critics alike. The renowned pianist and his former teacher, Jean-Marc Luisada, observed: “He is a profoundly sensitive artist, possessing a delicate, aristocratic sensibility and a soul unafraid to take risks; working with him is an immense pleasure. He is distinguished by his intellectual pursuit of the work’s form, a sound full of volume and space, and a rich, eloquent performance technique.”
Currently, V. Paukštelis is also exploring new creative paths and possibilities for interpretation. This is reflected in his multi-year collaborative projects with percussionist Vladimir Tarasov, such as the “Barokiniai gobelenai” project. Alongside his musical endeavors, Viktoras Paukštelis is also a well-known painter.
