Description
On March 22, Paliesius Manor will host a performance by Georgian pianist David Khrikuli, a finalist in the 2025 Chopin Competition—during which he earned the greatest audience favor and sparked the most discussion among all the participants. At the manor, he will perform a program of Chopin’s works for the first time since the competition. This will be the pianist’s only concert in Lithuania.
Born in Georgia in 2001, pianist David Khrikuli is rapidly becoming one of the most promising artists of his generation. The pianist studies in Stanislav Ioudenitch’s class at the Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid, where he previously studied under Galina Eguiazarova. He is currently supported by the Banco Santander Foundation, and the performer has also received scholarships from the Jaime Castellanos and Albéniz foundations. In 2022, he received a diploma for the best academic results from Her Majesty Queen Sofía.
Khrikuli was a finalist in the 2025 International F. Chopin Piano Competition—his performances drew special attention from both the jury and the public, earning him recognition that far exceeded the final results of the competition. Khrikuli is a laureate of numerous international competitions: he won first prize at the 2024 Cantù International Piano and Orchestra Competition (Italy), as well as first prize and the audience award at the Vigo International Piano Competition (Spain). His previous accolades include first prize and a special prize at the Aarhus International Competition (Denmark), first prize at the Tbilisi National F. Chopin Piano Competition (Georgia), Astana Piano Passion (Kazakhstan), and the Arthur Rubinstein International Youth Piano Competition (China).
Khrikuli began learning the piano at the age of eight at the Zackaria Paliashvili Central Music School for Gifted Children in Tbilisi, later continuing his studies with Revaz Tavadze. He has participated in masterclasses with renowned pianists, including Arie Vardi, Nelson Freire, Elisabeth Leonskaja, Robert Levin, and András Schiff.
The pianist has performed as a soloist with the Georgian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Israel Chamber and Philharmonic Orchestras, and others; he has also held solo recitals and chamber music concerts throughout Europe. As a student at the Reina Sofía School, he appeared in the concert series “La Generación Ascendente” (Madrid) and “AIEnRUTa-Clásicos” (Albacete). He was also a member of the Schumann Trio, Ravel Duo, and Austrias Trio.
Currently, Khrikuli is touring Poland, performing in Toruń, Kraków, and Poznań. He will appear with the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, at the National Forum of Music in Wrocław, and with the Kraków Philharmonic Orchestra. He will also perform at the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid, return to Mallorca, and make his debut in Berlin.

Exhibition of Photographic Painting by Linas Jonušas: “(UN)PHOTOGRAPHIC ABSTRACTION”
Date: March 21 – April 17, 2026
The exhibition features 16 paintings by photographer Linas Jonušas—a truly unexpected phenomenon in the visual arts that experimentally intertwines painting, graphics, and photography. The creation of these works begins with a foundation of degraded, blackened frames of slide film, ordinarily deemed unsuitable for image-making. Upon this base, the artist paints his visions using a highly distinctive technique. Like a meticulous jeweler, he carefully and scrupulously drips specific chemical liquids (salt solutions), rendering varied threads and spots that unpredictably and freely flow, spread, and mingle like watercolor. Once the chemical reactions subside, the completed slide image is transferred via digital photographic printing onto large-format aluminum composite sheets. Through these complex, unusual, and, one might say, “alchemical” processes, Jonušas’s associative, expressively sensual abstract paintings are born—works the artist has been crafting for an entire decade.
