On May 8, we invite you to listen to two great masters of music – Bach and Brahms! This dialogue between Baroque and Romantic music is presented to you by the talented Lithuanian pianist Daumantas Kirilauskas.
Daumantas Kirilauskas has performed in European countries, the USA, and Iran. He has played with all Lithuanian orchestras, as well as with Latvia’s “Sinfonietta Riga”, Finland’s “Lappeenranta City Orchestra”, and the “Kremerata Baltica Soloists”. He is a participant in many festivals and a traditional guest at the Thomas Mann Festival.
The pianist’s repertoire covers the period from the Baroque to the latest 21st-century compositions. An important place in his repertoire is occupied by the works of Ludwig van Beethoven. In addition to solo pieces, the pianist has played extensively in chamber ensembles with renowned Lithuanian and foreign soloists and collectives, including the Vienna “Artis-Quartett”. D. Kirilauskas is a participant in many premieres.
D. Kirilauskas has released 19 solo albums. His recording of Feliksas Bajoras’ composition “Sideralis” was released in 2018 by the publisher “RMN Classical”. In 2024, the album “Juozas Gruodis: Piano Music” was released by the London record company “Toccata Classics”. Many recordings made by D. Kirilauskas are preserved in the Lithuanian Radio archives. His recorded piano tracks can be heard in numerous films and plays.
D. Kirilauskas is a graduate of the M. K. Čiurlionis School of Art (1991). He studied at the “Mozarteum” University in Salzburg, graduating with the highest honors and earning a Master of Arts degree. His teachers were Liucija Drąsutienė (from 1984 to 1994) and Karl-Heinz Kämmerling (from 1994 to 2000).
The pianist is a laureate of national and international competitions. Since 2019, he has been a “Bösendorfer” artist. In 2021, he was awarded the “Golden Disc” by the Lithuanian Musicians’ Union for his active concert activity and high artistic level. Since 2024, he has been a professor at the LMTA Department of Piano and Organ.
