The First World War passed very close to Paliesius—it is highly likely that German soldiers used the manor for their own needs, as many buildings they constructed still remain nearby. The Second World War also had a negative impact on the manor. Just before the war, this part of Lithuania was ceded to Belarus, and in 1940, the estate was nationalized. It became part of a collective farm and over time, up until its restoration, fell into almost complete ruin.
