This time, the marathon’s theme is “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” The entire day will be dedicated to the highly significant composer Felix Mendelssohn—a unique event in Lithuania. Across three concerts, both his most celebrated works and compositions performed for the first time in the country will be heard.
Taking the stage will be the festival’s creator, the fiery piano virtuoso Alexander Paley, a welcomed guest at the most prestigious concert halls and festivals, alongside three other exceptional talents. Also playing the piano is his partner in life and music, Pei-Wen Chen, a laureate of international piano competitions and a participant in world-class projects. The violin will be played by Raimondas Butvila, a professor and Head of the String Instruments Department at the Vytautas Magnus University Music Academy, who has mentored several generations of musicians. On the cello is Marius Dominykas Sakavičius, a participant and laureate of various national and international masterclasses and competitions, who has performed as a soloist with various orchestras.
