An early spring night in the forest is brimming with life and secrets. A gentle breeze caresses the skin, the awakening trees rustle, the scent of damp earth and the first buds lingers in the air; owls hoot, and water murmurs. And history seems to speak anew.
On March 21, we invite everyone—even those who have already explored the fortifications—on a historical night hike through undiscovered lands. This time, entirely different sensations await, and you will see the footprints of history in a different, springtime light.
The night hike begins at the Rokada road, from which we will drive toward the Eastern Front line. Along the way, an entire complex awaits you: logistics warehouses, the veins of a narrow-gauge railway, and a small cemetery. Your acquaintance with these stories will begin surrounded by the forest, by the light of a campfire. Listening to the guide’s tales, we will venture through the mysterious, winding valleys of the Kamaja River toward the active front line. We will tread a trench path, dug out 110 years ago by German army soldiers to withstand fierce attacks.
As we journey, we will see the illuminated openings of concrete bunkers and visit every shelter that once saved soldiers’ lives. Lanterns will help light the way.
We will end the hike by a crackling campfire with a warm cup of tea and discussions, sharing our impressions and stories about the survival conditions of the soldiers of that time, while showcasing a war-themed exhibition. Finally, having touched both historical heritage and nature, we will leave this mysterious land behind.
