LRT.LT: Paliesius Manor Concerts. Martín García García

One of the most talented contemporary pianists—the Spaniard Martín García García—has returned to Paliesius Manor! Having enchanted the audience during his very first performance at Paliesius and in Lithuania overall in the fall of 2022, the artist presented a new program to the public on May 4, 2024.

Born in 1996 in Gijón, Spain, Martín García García is now 26 years old—and is already considered one of the brightest classical pianists of our time.

In 2023, the pianist held about 80 concerts worldwide (in the Americas, Asia, and Europe), making his debut in Korea, Mexico, and Brazil. He also toured Japan, the United States, Canada, Poland, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Lithuania, and Luxembourg, delivering magnificent recitals and playing alongside such prestigious ensembles as the NHK Symphony, the Seoul Philharmonic, the Hamburg Symphony, the Warsaw Philharmonic, the Lithuanian National Symphony, and Brazilian orchestras.

Martín García García’s performances have been highly acclaimed by various musicians and fellow pianists, such as Vladimir Kraniev, Dmitri Alexeev, Arcadi Volodos, Dimitri Bashkirov, Joaquín Achúcarro, Tatiana Copeland (Sergei Rachmaninoff’s second cousin), and others.

The pianist has won first prize at numerous national and international competitions. Most notably, he secured first place at the 2021 Cleveland International Piano Competition, as well as third place and the special award for the best concerto at the XVIII International Chopin Piano Competition.

Martín García García graduated from the Reina Sofía School of Music, where he studied in the class of Galina Eguiazarova—and received the Best Student award from Her Majesty Queen Sofía. The pianist also completed a three-year master’s degree in piano at the Mannes School of Music in New York with the renowned pianist Jerome Rose. He began his musical studies at the age of five under the guidance of Natalia Mazouni and Ilya Goldfarb, and before turning twelve, he had already gained recognition at various competitions, such as the Piano Junior Barcelona in 2005, the Antón García Abril competition in Teruel and the Santa Cecilia Prize in Segovia in 2006, San Sebastian in 2008, Rotary International in Moscow in 2008, and the Permanent Competition of Spanish Youth Musicians in Alcalá de Henares in 2008.

The year 2022 marked a remarkable breakthrough in the pianist’s career, with more than 70 concerts held across the globe in such iconic venues as Carnegie Hall in New York, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, and the National Music Auditorium in Madrid. His tour of Japan was incredibly successful—gathering an audience of 25,000 across 14 performances. Furthermore, that same year he released his debut album, “Chopin and His Master”, which he self-produced and recorded at the Fazioli piano factory in Sacile, Italy. The album features works by J. S. Bach, F. Chopin, F. Liszt, and A. Scriabin, reflecting the repertoire cultivated during his 2021–2022 season.

Martín García García possesses a strong sense of responsibility and a deep commitment to serving humanity. He approaches every concert with profound purpose. No matter where the performance takes place or who gathers in the audience, he believes he can offer something truly meaningful to every individual who chooses to come and listen.
