LRT.LT: Paliesius Manor Concerts. Andrius Žlabys and Johnny Gandelsman

December 12, 2015 Paliesius Manor hosted a duo concert by pianist Andrius Žlabys and violinist Johnny Gandelsman. Andrius Žlabys is a laureate of multiple international competitions, having won first prize at the S. Vainiūnas Competition for Young Pianists, the Czech “Virtuosi per Musica di Piano forte” competition, and others. Here is how the newspaper “The Cleveland Plain Dealer” described the pianist: “A virtuoso of remarkable technique and romantic temperament, who played like a true heir to the traditions of the great 19th-century piano masters.”

Violinist Johnny Gandelsman’s recordings have earned the highest critical acclaim: his album of J. S. Bach’s “Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin” reached number one on the Billboard Classical Chart and was frequently included in best-of-the-year lists. The US daily “The Boston Globe” praised the violinist’s performance for its “delicate, almost balletic touch, tasteful sense of style and imagination.”

We are delighted to share this memory of the concert!
