Description
Midsummer’s Night – a magical night, marked by the search for the fern blossom, which only a few manage to find. We invite you to embark on a journey together to search for this blossom through a forest of sounds with Japanese cellist Chie Narita, pianist and singer Ieva Marija Baranauskaitė, and percussionist Mykolas Baranauskas. Following the wisdom of melodies and ancestral songs, protected by rowan branches, we will try to overcome enchanted obstacles and take away the secrets of pure water from this night.
Japanese artist Chie Narita, performing at Paliesius Manor not for the first time, states that she is fascinated by Lithuanian nature and people, feeling a deep connection with them. Her previous collaboration with Ieva Marija Baranauskaitė and the musical international dialogue greatly inspired the artist. This time at Paliesius Manor, she will perform ancient Japanese songs, inseparable from nature, and her own compositions.
Chie Narita played the digital piano from the age of five, and the flute from the age of ten. In 1994, upon entering high school, she encountered the cello, and it changed her life. The performer began playing the cello in the school orchestra, studying with the innovative cellist and music educator Yoritoyo Inoue, a fan of Pablo Casals. After graduating from school, Chie went to India to study yoga – this liberated her creativity and inspired her to give music the most important place in her life. She began performing as a cellist in various groups. Her compositions, singing, poetry, and musical improvisations blossomed – deeply inspired by nature, especially the chirping of birds. In 2012, the musician began performing solo and released three albums under her own name. Today, continuing her studies in classical music, she passionately explores new musical forms, both alone and in collaboration with like-minded artists.
„Such’a’Trip“ – is a concept and symbol embodying the group’s tasks and aspirations, reflecting the group’s face externally and formulating its goals internally. The constant and unchanging core of the group – brother and sister, musicians Ieva Baranauskaitė and Mykolas Baranauskas, constantly experimenting in the musical field, often straying into the fringes of music, where music meets arts such as theatre, sound design, cinema, literature, dance, or painting.
The musicians say that „Such’a’Trip: Open Session“ are different concerts: „We ourselves don’t know what might happen. Sometimes you rehearse what needs to be rehearsed, but sometimes you also allow yourself to wander far, far away… It happens that we all meet there, far away. Then we each unclench our palm, and there, many captured seconds flutter, such small, fleeting, brief moments. Sometimes they are beautiful, and sometimes not so much. But they are always very real, and that’s what interests us. Beautiful things often emerge from such wanderings, and the most enjoyable part is that you can never repeat it anywhere. It’s like a mysterious event, witnessed only by those who participated in it. So, in this concert, we will simply embark on a journey through the tunnels of the subconscious, we will hunt, delve into mystery, and catch, catch those vanishing seconds. And what we catch – we will give away.”
