Jeneba Kanneh-Mason (piano, United Kingdom)

On May 29, the wonderful pianist Jeneba Kanneh-Mason will perform in the Baltic States for the very first time—at Paliesius Manor!

Jeneba Kanneh-Mason captivates audiences with her “maturity in performance and interpretation” (“Fraser”). She made her international debut at the BBC Proms performing Florence Price’s concerto—the press noted that the pianist “demonstrated musical insight, technical mastery, and an engaging stage persona” (“Music OMH”). This work was later recorded with the Chineke! ensemble and Leslie Suganandarajah, and released by Decca Classics in the summer of 2023. “The Guardian” praised her performance, stating that “it would be hard to find a more persuasive interpreter of Price’s music.”

Jeneba is now an exclusive Sony Classical artist. Her debut solo album “Fantasie,” released in March 2025, has garnered immense acclaim. It was named “Classic FM” Album of the Week, and “Gramophone” magazine praised her as “a pianist of formidable technical resources, which she harnesses to reveal a remarkably rich and varied musical imagination.” The album “Fantasie” was nominated for the prestigious Edison Award.

During the 2025–2026 season, Jeneba will perform for the first time with several North American orchestras, including The Florida Orchestra, the North Carolina Symphony, and the San Antonio Philharmonic. She will also embark on her first solo recital tour, featuring performances in the Vancouver Recital Series, at Baltimore’s Shriver Hall, and in Washington’s Dumbarton Concerts. As a prominent recitalist, she will return to London’s Wigmore Hall, and will also appear at the Bergen International Festival, Antwerp’s deSingel, the Royal Irish Academy in Dublin, and many other venues.

Other recent and upcoming highlights include debuts with the Oslo Philharmonic, the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, the Milan Symphony Orchestra, and Britten Sinfonia; concerts with conductors Andrew Manze, Dinis Sousa, and Emmanuel Tjeknavorian; a UK tour with the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and Riccardo Frizza; as well as performances with the Orchestre National de Lyon, the Detroit Symphony, the Philharmonia, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, and the Belgrade Philharmonic orchestras.

Jeneba reached the keyboard category final of the 2018 BBC Young Musician competition, won the “Murs du Son” prize at the 2014 Lagny-sur-Marne International Piano Competition in France, and was the winner of the 2013 The Nottingham Young Musician competition. She also received the Iris Dyer Piano Prize at the Royal Academy of Music Junior Academy, where she studied with Patsy Toh.

Jeneba was recognized as one of “Classic FM” “Rising Stars” and appeared on Julian Lloyd Webber’s radio series in 2021. She is a frequent guest on television and radio broadcasts: she has appeared on “Radio 3,” “In Tune,” “The BAFTAs,” “The Royal Variety Performance,” the BBC4 documentary “Young, Gifted and Classical,” and the BBC1 documentary “This House is Full of Music,” created for the “Imagine” series. She also recorded the album “Carnival,” released by Decca Classics.
