A world-renowned voice—tenor Ian Bostridge—returns to Paliesius Manor!
The singer regularly performs and is always warmly welcomed at major concert halls around the world—Carnegie Hall (New York), Barbican Hall (London), the Konzerthaus (Vienna), the Luxembourg Philharmonie, Teatro alla Scala (Milan), and many others.
Ian Bostridge collaborates with recording giants such as Warner Classics, EMI Classics, Hyperion, and more. His recordings sweep the most important international awards, including the Grammy, Edison, Japanese Recording Academy, Brit, South Bank Show, Diapason d’Or de l’Année, Choc de l’Année, Echo Klassik, and Deutsche Schallplattenpreis.
The tenor has performed with legendary global orchestras: the Berlin, Vienna, New York, Los Angeles, and Rotterdam Philharmonics, as well as the Chicago, Boston, London, and BBC Symphony Orchestras. Together with the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Lucia orchestra, led by Antonio Pappano, he sang in the world premiere of German composer Hans Werner Henze’s work Opfergang in Rome.
Ian Bostridge’s list of operatic roles features Lysander in A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Opera Australia and the Edinburgh Festival), Nero in L’Incoronazione di Poppea, Don Ottavio (Vienna State Opera), Tamino in The Magic Flute, Aschenbach in Death in Venice (English National Opera), Peter Quint (Teatro alla Scala), Handel’s Jephtha (Paris National Opera), and many others.
Other spectacular performances include The War Requiem with the London Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Vladimir Jurowski, Les Illuminations with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra conducted by Andris Nelsons, and Berlioz’s Les nuits d’été with the Seattle Symphony and Ludovic Morlot.
In recent years, the singer has collaborated with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra.
In 2003, Ian Bostridge was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of St Andrews, and in 2010, an honorary fellowship at St John’s College, Oxford. In 2014, the tenor taught at the University of Oxford.
The singer is also highly regarded in the field of humanities literature. His book, Schubert’s Winter Journey: Anatomy of an Obsession, won The Pol Roger Duff Cooper Prize.
Performing alongside Ian Bostridge is pianist Saskia Giorgini—considered one of the most compelling pianists of the younger generation, having been a laureate and prize-winner at the 12th Mozart Competition in Salzburg, the International Piano Competition Ferruccio Busoni 2015, and the Prix d’AmadèO.
